Projects

OK good news and bad news!

Bad News First
I left the fully graded first projects on my desk at home and am so unable to provide individual grades until I get home. I am sincerely sorry.

Good News Next
The projects were most excellent! The lowest grade was an 85. With only a handful of exceptions everyone met all of the listed requirements for the project and so earned an 'A'.

More Good News? Really?
The Automation Project is struck from the books this semester. Because everyone did so well on the foreclosure project, the grade percentage from this project will be doubled to account for the dropped assignment.

Welcome to the Class

Welcome to the class.

Please note the links to the right of this page -----> -----> ----->

This Selected Topics course is a project-based course where the entire semester is focused on completing a specific project. The project focuses on residential property investment strategies using GIS. Each student will individually develop a strategy to select foreclosures for investment in the Tarrant County, TX.

What does this mean?

This means we will be accessing MLS data, HUD Foreclosure data, TAD data, and Crime Rankings, and other datasets. This means that we will be including all of this data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS). We will use ArcGIS 9. This also means that we will learn how to automate this process.

What experience do I need?

None at all. GIS experience will be helpful, but is not required. Likewise, real estate experience is helpful, but is not required.

But, I have no interest whatsoever in residential property investment !

No worries. All of the skills you will learn are transferable. It will be fun no matter what...

This sounds pretty good. I think you are the best instructor ever!

Yep... You're well on your way to earning an 'A' with thinking like that.
