+ Create a Model that will take a table of addresses and create a 2-mile buffer shapefile.

Use exam foreclosure list
  • First, do it manually using only geoprocessing tools
  • Geocode: ArcToolbox/Geocoding Tools/Geocode Addresses
  • Buffer: ArcToolbox/Analysis Tools/Proximity/Buffer
  • Second, create a Model to duplpicate those steps
  • Create a new Toolbox: Right-click ArcToolbox/New Toolbox
  • Create a new Model: Right-click new Toolbox/New/Model
  • Drag appropriate tools to Model
  • Connect using the Connector Tool

All who attend will receive 5 points added to their final grade. There will be 1 additional workshop to attend, for a total of 10 additional points to final grade (out of 100). Next one April 15.

Title: ArcGIS & Google Earth for 3D Visualization
Time: Thursday, March 12, 3-5pm
Location: Central Library B20 (basement)
Description: Learn how you can easily use the campus-wide ArcGIS software to include custom created geographic data into Google Earth. Examples include demographic data (such as population, income, race), land features not currently included in Google Earth (such as land use, zoning, and different aerial/satellite imagery), and customized features you create yourself (such as GPS points, or the results of GIS analysis).
